‘What are you waiting for?’ (Evangelii Gaudium : 120)
In Evangelii Gaudium, Francis calls on us to be ‘Missionary Disciples’. But how on earth are we to become these 21st century missionaries?
Traditional models are changing as our concept of mission evolves. How can we respond, as lay people and as communities of faith, to Pope Francis's call? How can we continue to answer the needs of missionary dioceses around the world? How will mission be supported in the future? How can we all be better missionaries? Together we will explore these questions.
Cathy Scott is now working with Missio, the Catholic Church's official charity for overseas mission. Missio's aim is to bring the hope of the Gospel where there is turmoil, poverty and uncertainty in the world, and where the Church is new, young or poor. It empowers local people to form and sustain communities of faith and trains and nurture future leaders so that the vital work of the Church in the world can take place. Our chaplain will be Missio’s new National Director, Fr Tony Chantry MHM.
