It is six years now since the beatification of Cardinal Newman. At the weekend in Boars Hill we will be ‘following in his footsteps’.
We will visit nearby Littlemore where he was received into the Catholic church. A few years afterwards he was excited by what he called the ‘Second Spring’ in the Church when he witnessed the restoration of the Catholic hierarchy in England in 1850. We wonder whether now is the time for a ‘Third Spring’ for Catholicism in this country, following Pope Francis’ lead, and based on 'joy'. How could CPW be instrumental in a rebirth of the Church 50 years on from the second Vatican Council?
Besides hearing about his long life from the sisters of ‘The Work’ who run his ‘college’ in Littlemore, we will have as speaker Father Ian Ker, who has written a book on Newman and Vatican II, to inspire us.

Speaker: Fr Ian Ker
